Preparing for a microblading appointment is essential to ensure the best results. Here are some key steps to follow:

  1. Avoid Alcohol and Caffeine: Refrain from consuming alcohol and caffeine for at least 24 hours before your appointment. These substances can thin your blood and increase bleeding during the procedure.
  2. Skip Blood Thinners: Avoid taking blood-thinning medications like aspirin, ibuprofen, and certain supplements (e.g., fish oil, vitamin E) for at least 48 hours before your appointment.
  3. No Tanning or Sun Exposure: Avoid tanning beds and excessive sun exposure for at least two weeks before your appointment. Sunburned skin can affect the outcome.
  4. Avoid Facial Treatments: Do not get facials, chemical peels, or any other skin treatments at least two weeks before your appointment.
  5. No Waxing or Tweezing: Avoid waxing, tweezing, or threading your eyebrows for at least one week before your appointment. Your artist will work with your natural brow shape.
  6. Stay Hydrated and Moisturized: Keep your skin hydrated and moisturized, but avoid using any skincare products containing retinol or acids for at least one week before your appointment.
  7. Relax and Dress Comfortably: Wear comfortable clothing and be prepared to lie still for the duration of the procedure. Relax and trust your artist to create beautiful results.

Proper aftercare is crucial for achieving the best results from your microblading procedure. Here are some key steps to follow:

  1. Keep the Area Dry: Avoid getting your eyebrows wet for at least 7 days. This includes keeping your face dry during showers.
  2. Avoid Makeup: Do not apply makeup to the treated area for at least a week. This helps prevent infection and allows the pigments to settle properly.
  3. Clean Gently: Gently clean the area with mild soap and cool or slightly warm water. Use a damp sponge or washcloth to avoid splashing water on your brows.
  4. Apply Aftercare Ointment: Use the ointment provided to keep the area moisturized and protected. This helps the skin heal and retain the pigment.
  5. Avoid Sun Exposure: Stay out of direct sunlight and avoid tanning beds for at least two weeks. Sun exposure can affect the healing process and the final color of your brows.
  6. No Picking or Scratching: As your brows heal, they may scab and itch. Resist the urge to pick or scratch the area to avoid disrupting the healing process and causing patchy results.
  7. Avoid Sweating: Try to avoid activities that cause excessive sweating, such as intense workouts or saunas, for at least a week.

The ideal candidate for microblading typically has faint or minimal eyebrows and desires a more defined, full, and darker look. Here are some key points to consider:

  1. Skin Type: Dry to normal skin types generally achieve the best results. Oily or textured skin may result in a softer, more diffused effect.
  2. Health Conditions: Candidates should not have skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, or chronic acne around the brow area, as these can affect the healing process and pigment retention.
  3. Not Pregnant or Nursing: Microblading is not recommended for those who are pregnant or nursing2.
  4. No Recent Skin Treatments: Avoid microblading if you’ve recently had chemical peels, laser treatments, or other skin procedures near the brow area.
  5. No Blood-Thinning Medications: Those taking blood-thinning medications or supplements should avoid microblading.

If you meet these criteria, you might be a good candidate for microblading.
